Blue Stitched Play Collar

After making my set of bondage cuffs, I made myself a play collar with bondage points all around it. While I never expected them all to be used at once, the idea was having enough there to have flexibility in what you can do with it. Also I just liked the look.

Using the same distressed brass d-rings and blue stitching, and the same leathers as the cuffs, I made myself a matching collar.

The outside of the collar, and the strap to hold the D-rings in place is a semi-stiff cow leather, and I laminated (glued) the super-soft buckskin to the inside, cut to size and hole punched. I stretched the buckskin as I glued and secured it, so it wouldn’t pucker no matter how the leather moved and curved. I used a little brayer/roller to ensure the leather was pressed uniformly down while the glue did its job

I attempted to hole-punch/stitch by eye at first and I hated how rough it looked. I ended up making myself a template on the glowforge to ensure the stitching remained straight and as uniform as the leather would let me be. You can see how on the top it looks pretty straight but underneath it’s kind of wonky. Well that’s fine the top is what people see, anyway. But as I was punching the leather the punch would angle just slightly so the inside isn’t quite as straight as I’d have preferred. At least it’s obvious that it was hand-made, lol.

I off-set the top and bottom pieces when I was punching the leather, so the stitching causes a natural bend in the leather, allowing it to conform to my neck without any bulging. I had done the same thing on the cuffs, and it worked out beautifully.

I hate seeing leather pucker up because someone sewed two pieces together and didn’t account for how they need to move around the curve you intend on putting them on. I think I did a great job of ensuring that didn’t happen here.

I burnished all the edges so it looks nice. I probably could have done more burnishing, since looking at the pictures I can see the seams between the leathers, but it’s fine. They’re holding together, so far so good, and if they do separate I can always re-glue and re-burnish.

There are two holes punched in the end for my neck size – a tight-to-skin spot that is tight enough that it looks flush and nice and stays with me when I move and I can feel it against my skin, but it’s not too tight to wear like that long-term; and a looser spot that is more comfortable for extra-long-term wear. On my day-collar that is essentially this same thing but without the d-rings and the stitching, I normally wear it on the looser hole, while this collar normally gets worn on the tighter one. I think… I don’t put it on me, Tim always does. But I’m pretty sure he likes making it tight <3

It’s sturdy as hell. Tim can pull on it and it doesn’t give, it just pulls me with it. I love that feeling so much.
