There’s just something about things you’ve made yourself. Even if it’s not as good as if someone else had done it, it means more.
I took a picture in 2016 of my rope collection hanging up to dry after washing it.

There’s dyed nylon mixed in there, too, but that’s essentially my bondage rope collection.
I bought 6mm raw hemp rope (from Canada!) and conditioned and dyed it myself.
It’s amazing. I do not recommend the process. Conditioning it requires boiling it for a long time. It’s been like 15 years since I did it but I want to say it was multiple days of boiling.
And uh.
Hemp rope smells like manure when boiled. Kind of made the whole kitchen and living room smell like it, too.
I love my rope. But I don’t think I’ll ever do it again.
Thankfully it’s a lot of rope.
This is the item I bought, 2010-08-09: https://rawganique.com/products/6mm-organic-hemp-rope-3kg-roll
Back in 2010 it was $72 plus $21.25 shipping.
